The AA Sentry Box

The AA Sentry Box at Devil’s Bridge would have been a welcome sight for their patrolmen, offering shelter from bad weather while looking for troubled motorists. First introduced in 1912, there were more than 600 boxes by the Second World War. However, as technology developed, telephones became smaller and sentry boxes disappeared. Now only 19 sentry boxes survive with eight having Grade-II listed status. at Devil’s Bridge would have been a welcome sight for their patrolmen, offering shelter from bad weather while looking for troubled motorists.
